The 360° Clinical Process
Each 360 Doctor must pair up with a 360 Facilitator who will be a doctor on the medical register. The facilitator will need to be trained in 360 Clinical though an organised seminar at the trust or a distance learning DVD/Video. The 360 Facilitator starts the system for the 360 Doctor and then the whole process works automatically as follows. Each 360 Doctor is emailed:
To keep the feedback information confidential the 360° clinical web applies strict security measures. The 360 Doctor enters the 360° clinical web site, using the supplied user name and password, and enters 15-20 colleagues names (known as assessors) and email addresses. The assessors are emailed by the system. The e-mail asks each assessor to enter the password protected 360° clinical website. Each assessor is supplied with a user name and password. Assessors provide feedback on the doctor by using a short questionnaire (ten questions). Assessors can refuse to take part. The system automatically reminds assessors to reply. When the system has received at least ten replies within an agreed time scale, 360° Clinical collates the data and produces a report. Click here to see an example report. The questionnaire asks the patient to tick the relevant boxes and return to 360 Clinical. The recipient doctor could organise an interviewer to complete the questionnaire if appropriate The doctor's facilitator is emailed when the report is ready. The facilitator enters the web site to view the report results, using a user name and password unique to the facilitator. Alternatively the facilitator may request two paper copies of the report. The facilitator then holds a meeting with the doctor to discuss the results. If serious concerns are identified through the 360° feedback, the trust’s clinical governance lead is notified. The clinical governance lead will investigate in an appropriate manner. The concerns may not be due to individual incompetence but to circumstances beyond the doctor's control. |
