FAQs

  • Does revalidation affect me?

If you wish to practice medicine in any way, shape or form after 2010 - then yes, very much so! The GMC has made it clear that ALL doctors must submit evidence that they are fit to practice within their revalidation folders - a mandatory element of which is their 360 assessment (twice within the 5 year revalidation cycle).

  • When should I do my 360?

The advice from the regulatory bodies suggests that all doctors will need to undergo a 360 assessment in years 1/2 of the 5 year revalidation cycle - and again in years 4/5. And because the first tranche of doctors will be called forward in the first quarter of 2010 - you need to start collating evidence now.

  • What's involved?

Although doctors are encouraged to collate as much evidence as possible (in line with the 4 domains of Good Medical Practice), 360 Clinical's skill is in doing all this work on a doctor's behalf. Our system has been uniquely designed to produce a final report that gives complete and meaningful feedback from peers and patients.

  • How much (time and money) does it really cost?

Our fully inclusive assessment products start from £99 per doctor - which equates to £33 a year for doctors undergoing 360 within a 3 year cycle and, because our system does the work of prompting and collating, doctors commonly find that 15 minutes is all it takes to get going.

  • Can I fail my 360?

No. The results of your 360 will give you feedback from colleagues and patients and also benchmark you against thousands of other doctors on the system. The GMC has repeatedly made clear that revalidation will be a supportive process - not designed for catching out the poorer performers.

  • I hate IT - can't I do this all on paper?

360 Clinical uniquely has a dedicated Helpline - staffed by human beings! - who will guide you through the feedback process. We can even do your assessment over the phone if your laptop accidentally ends up in a bin!!

  • When can I do the recertification bit?

Royal Colleges are currently considering their options on recertification - and an Academy Working Group has been established to ensure uniformity across all specialties. With just a single exception, there is still 12-18 months of piloting to be undertaken before your recertification (specialist) questions will be ready. Meantime, crack on with relicensure and retain your Licence to Practice.
